The Platform concept was launched by Saint Gobain
(SG), Europe’s leading manufacturer and distributor of building
materials, in 1998. It has since then become the fastest growing
business within SG’s €20 Billion-Distribution Division with a network of
more than 70 stores in 10 European and South American markets.
This rapid expansion stems from
Platform’s ability to constantly adapt to the demands of new countries
and new regions.
Strengthening a Winning Partnership
After 3 decades of successful partnership in the field of insulation
manufacturing (with KIMMCO Kuwait, RIL India and Izocam Turkey),
Alghanim Industries (AI) and SG decided to enlarge this collaboration by
developing the Platform concept in the GCC.
The first Franchise Agreement in the
history of Platform was signed between AI and SG in May 2006. This
venture will leverage SG’s strong expertise in the distribution of
building materials and AI in-depth understanding of local retail
markets.
With its aggressive target of opening a pilot store in Kuwait by October
2007 and a large network of stores in other GCC countries, AI aims at
positioning Platform as the region’s preferred supplier to construction
professionals and home builders.
